Werewolves are a supernatural species of shape-shifter and are the primary protagonists within the Teen Wolf Universe.
They usually appear in human form and can shift to varying degrees into a bipedal wolf-like creature with increased body hair, fangs and glowing eyes.
While most of the werewolves on the show remain in the "nearly human" form; Laura Hale and her mother, Talia Hale, looked like a regular wolf when transformed and Peter Hale took on a monstrous giant wolf-like form.
The Alpha Twins could merge into one large creature but, while larger than normal, it retained a mostly human appearance.

The Kanima is a form of shapeshifter introduced in Season 2 of MTV's Teen Wolf.
According to Teen Wolf Mythology, the Kanima was created when Jackson Whittemore's emotional issues caused his body to reject the bite of an Alpha.
Instead of becoming a werewolf, Jackson transformed into a snake. We are led to believe that this shape reflected his inner turmoil and outward behavior.
Physical Characteristics The kanima is roughly the size of an average human male and covered in scales.
It has a long prehensile tail and can climb up walls like some varieties of lizard.
Its claws are long and secrete venom that can paralyze victims for hours.
It seems to heal very quickly, taking several bullets to the chest, recovering and resuming the fight.
NOTE: The Kanima creature seen to date is apparently the Beta form. According to Peter Hale, its next level of development has wings.

Kitsune
A supernatural species within the Teen Wolf Universe. They are described as "tricksters" with no care for the concept of right or wrong.
Appearance We have only observed two Kitsune so far.
To date, they have always appeared human to the naked eye.
Kitsune Aura In digital photographs and to those with enhanced vision (See Werewolf), the Kitsune has a distinctive and fiery aura.
It is shaped like a fox with large pointed ears and muzzle.
Derek Hale notes that this effect is visible on young Kitsune because they "haven't learned to conceal" their true nature.

Nogitsune
First summoned by a Kitsune named Noshiko Yukimura in 1943 in an attempt to gain her revenge on the soldiers at the Oak Creek Internment Camp during WWII.
Instead of inhabiting her, as she had prayed, it inhabited the bandage wrapped dead body of her lover, Corporal Rhys.
He proceeds to kill everyone at the prison camp and Eichen House, the hospital where Rhys died.
He is finally killed by Noshiko and a female werewolf in the tunnels beneath the camp.
Upon his "death" a fly flew out of his mouth and was captured by Noshiko. She later placed it in a jar and buried it beneath the Nemeton.

Darach
An evil druid. The word literally means "dark oak." Jennifer Blake turned from an emissary into a darach after her alpha nearly killed her.
The darach was one of two major villains in the first half of Season 3. For a long time, the darach's identity was unknown, and Scott and Friends spent much of their time trying to figure out who it might be. Early on, they realized that the rash of ritualistic killings happening around Beacon Hills were human sacrifices.
Mr. Harris assisted the darach in some early on, although it is unclear what help he offered before he became a sacrifice.

Human Sacrifices +Virgins
- The first virgin sacrifice is Stiles's childhood friend Heather. It was her 17th birthday, and she was planning to lose her virginity to Stiles in the wine cellar when suddenly the wine bottles started exploding. She is abducted through the basement window, and all the destruction appears to have been a mirage.
- The second virgin sacrifice is a lifeguard, who Lydia found dead at the pool wearing a purity ring.
- The third Emily, who was on a date with her girlfriend Caitlin in the woods. They were going to have sex for the first time.
- The first soldier sacrifice is Kyle. He was ROTC and got caught after taking his dog to the Animal Clinic.
- The second soldier sacrifice is the band teacher, who was taken from the band practice room at school while he was playing the piano.
- The third soldier sacrifice is Mr. Harris, who was ex-military.
- The first of the sacrifices is the ER attending, unnamed, who never arrived for work. The attending was male. His body is found while Sheriff Stilinski is taking the report on the kidnappings. Aiden, Deucalion, and Chris Argent are present at the crime scene. He died of asphixation, though he was not strangled.
- The second is Dr. Hilyard, who was taken on her way to work to fill in for the ER attending. When her body is brought to the morgue Melissa McCall asks Sheriff Stilinski if she has ligature marks on her neck. When he says no, she shows him the ER attending's body and the deep cuts on his wrists. She believes he was hung by his wrists and eventually ran out of strength to pull himself up to breathe.
- The third is Dr. Alan Deaton. Deaton calls Scott as soon as the moths appear in his office, telling him that he's going to be taken and he needs Scott to find him. Deaton is suspended from the ceiling in a Beacon Hills First National bank vault and surrounded by a mountain ash circle.
- Deputy Tara Graeme was the first sacrifice. Before she was a cop, she used ot teach middle school. Scott sees her body on top of the high school's sign after Lydia calls them all because she ended up at the school when she was intending to go somewhere else.
- Mr. Westover, the history teacher, is the second sacrifice. He is taken out of the school in the middle of the day. Lydia finds herself outside his room and write a 2 in the five-fold knot drawing that appeared where his class notes had been. Allison, Isaac, and Chris find him while the Darach is still tying him up.
- The third sacrifice is an unnamed pianist at the memorial concert. She she plays, the piano wire breaks and slices her throat open.
- Sheriff Stilinski became the first guardian taken from the school the night of the recital when he came up Jennifer Blake attacking Lydia.
- The same night that Sheriff Stilinski was taken, Ms. Blake took Melissa McCall from the hospital, while Scott and his friends were dealing with the alpha pack.
- The following day, Chris Argent gave himself up to the darach, hoping that he would be able to free the others upon his arrival, but she took all of his hidden weapons while he was knocked out.
